The Application of Molybdenum Disulfide in Electron Microprobe

An electron probe is an important part of a microscope. The thin film layer of the molybdenum disulfide inorganic fullerenes (IF) on the Si tip with the electrochemistry deposition can be used as a probe for scanning tunneling electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. It can be used for scanning of various substances because of its stable complex.

Atomic force microscope (AFM) is an important instrument with atomic resolution surface morphology and electromagnetic performance analysis. The first atomic force microscope was developed in 1985, and its model can be divided into contact mode and light tapping mode. As the application scope is limited to atomic force microscope, the AFM probe belongs to the consumables of high-tech equipment, which is not widely used around the world. The main manufacturers are in Germany, Switzerland, Bulgaria, and the U.S. and so on.
Because of the short life, low resolution and inconsistent consistency of the probe of silicon wafer or nitride silicon wafer, all countries are developing new probes. The shortcomings of the current probe are solved by using molybdenum disulfide as the coating probe, which provides a certain direction for the research of more suitable products.
Scanning tunneling electron microscopy (STM) is a kind of instrument which can detect the surface structure of material by means of tunneling effect in quantum theory. It converts the arrangement of atoms in the material surface into image information with the quantum tunneling effect of electrons between atoms. The interatomic distance is corresponded to the tunneling current in the quantum tunneling effect. The tunneling current between the surface and the tip of the needle reflects the transition of an interatomic electron from the surface through the interaction between the moving probe and the material surface. Thus, the single atom of the material surface and their arrangement state can be determined.
Scanning probe microscopy (SPM) is a general term for various new probe microscopes developed on the basis of scanning tunneling microscope and scanning tunneling microscope. It is the international surface analysis instrument developed in recent years.
Molybdenum disulfide is used as the probe for the study of these three microscopes, which can be the research direction to make more suitable products.
